Joe Giralo
Joseph J. Giralo is a lifelong resident of Hammonton NJ. Joe is a product of public education, having graduated from Hammonton Public Schools in 1980. He is also a graduate of Atlantic Cape Community College and Stockton University graduating with a degree in history. Joe has been married to his wife Gina for 27 years. Together they have two daughters Gianna and Gemma who are both college graduates employed in the medical field.
Joe formerly worked for the County of Atlantic and the Atlantic County Improvement Authority. His primary job was federally funded housing programs that supported low/moderate income residents of Atlantic County. Included in his duties were section 108 loans to business’s as well as first time homeowners. Joe has always been active in public service since the age of 18. He was appointed to the Hammonton Planning Board at the age of 18 where he served as Vice Chairman and later as Chairman for 40 plus years. Joe later served as a member of the Hammonton Board of Adjustment. Joe served on the Hammonton Board of Education for 15 years. During his tenure he served as Vice president and later as President. During his time on the Board of Education Joe led a complete turnaround of the district which was in financial deficit shortly after he arrived. When Joe left the Hammonton Board of Education to take a seat on Hammonton Town Council, the Hammonton School District benefited from a record budget surplus and world class facilities.
Joe continues to be an active member of the Hammonton community. He was the founding member and President of the Crusin’ Classics Car Club. He is the proud owner of several antique vehicles. Joe is also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hammonton and the Hammonton Lions Club where Joe is past President. Joe is currently a trustee for the Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Parish where Joe received an appointment to that post from Bishop Dennis Sullivan. Joe has been an active member of the Atlantic County League of Municipalities for the past 30 plus years. He is a former President of the County League and currently sits on the executive Board.
In November of 2021 Joe was elected to the position of Atlantic County Clerk. He continues to make changes to that office. He has made the office transparent in all of its activities. Joe brought the Property Alert Program to the citizens of Atlantic County at no cost. He also resumed marring people at the Clerk’s Office to date Joe has officiated over 250 weddings. Lastly he prides himself on having an open door policy for all the employees as well as all the residents of Atlantic County.
