LoBiondo Meets with Transportation Secretary Regarding Critical Projects at FAA Technical Center

Congressman secures commitment from Secretary LaHood to visit South Jersey facility in coming months

U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) today met with Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood in his Capitol Hill office on issues involving the FAA Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, including the ongoing development of the Next Generation (“NextGen”) air traffic control system and the planned Aviation Research & Technology Park.

“Secretary LaHood and I had a lengthy discussion about the critical transportation issues facing our country, particularly in the aviation sector, and South Jersey’s role in helping to address them. I am confident the Obama Administration is as committed to the NextGen as I and the employees of the FAA Technical Center are,” said LoBiondo, a member of the House Aviation Subcommittee. “I am also encouraged by the Secretary’s interest in our planned Aviation Research & Technology Park. I look forward to personally showing Secretary LaHood the vital research and development being conducted in South Jersey at a future date.”

At the conclusion of the 30 minute meeting, Secretary LaHood committed to LoBiondo his intention to visit South Jersey in the coming months to witness firsthand the ongoing research and development projects at the FAA Technical Center.
